Bay Arts – Magazine Redesign: Working with the client, I helped to devise a new strategy for presenting arts events in the bay area of Northern Florida. The previous publication looked dated and suffered from overcrowding and a lack of focus on its pages. In addition to the typography, color schemes and cover treatments, an additional challenge was the organization and design of the publication’s calendar and listing of special events. Featured here are three cover treatments (including an optional second branding solution), a spread of highlighted events and a sample page from the redesigned calendar.

Springtime Tallahassee – Cover Design: A popular seasonal event in Florida’s capital, Spring Time Tallahassee commissioned a new cover design for its publication that is distributed at the citywide event. My solution was to create a bright, colorful, simple and contemporary cover for them. These two covers employ type treatments and “spring” color pallets. Florida Chamber of Commerce — Publication Design: The Florida Chamber of Commerce produces a publication each year that is distributed to Florida legislators in anticipation of legislative activities. The publication is largely technical, dealing with legal items currently under consideration. To lighten the tone, a somewhat whimsical solution was presented, a giant Florida orange! (Citrus farming is still one of Florida’s primary sources of income).

Emerald Coast Magazine – Feature Magazine Design: Along the northern Gulf coast of Florida (known as the “Emerald Coast”), business and real estate development are booming. Emerald Coast Magazine commissioned me to design a cover story that profiled a number of prominent “new” business people. I developed a running logo treatment and designed the multispread feature for the publication. Also shown is a profile page I designed for their business section.
